Transplant Day
Martha's transplant began at 11:15 this morning and ended at 1PM. They returned ten stored vials of stem cells to her system. This was done by bringing up the cryogenicly frozen cells and thawing them in her room one by one. Each syringe was manually infused over a six minute period each. There is a chemical used to keep the stem cells fresh that smells/tastes pretty bad, so Martha had a lot of nausea during the process. It's over now though and all we have to do is wait. We're waiting on the stem cells to begin growing again and for Martha's blood to start forming along with her immune systems return. This will take about two weeks for signs of this to begin appearing. Unitl then, Martha will need transfusions to keep her going.
These are the two nurses and technician who completed the transplant process. All nurses no doctors? GO NURSES!!!

Happy Birthday
You gave yourself quite a gift!
(can't make this card in color cuz they don't allow it here. So just imagine this as a coat of many colors.
Happy belated birthday!
If I send you a Cancer Sucks care package will you share it with your awesome nurses?

You go girl! You have done an awesome job. Martha, you are the strongest willed person I know. I hope you get the cards today that we sent. We will keep you and the family in our prayers.
Love,
Since you weren't a "Science Project"( you said), we didn't observe the transplant procedure, but what a thrill to hear you sound so strong later that afternoon. Sorry I didn't know in time about a GIFT a Day, but I'll catch up soon as I get home ( Could we count "Strawberry Pancakes" as a small gift on the 5th?) If not, I owe you 2 more. Gram T.
Martha - We, the Class of 06, are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Keep improving!
